What is included in the DRYEYEKIT - Cleanse for Severe Dry Eyes and how do I use it?

There are three steps in the DRYEYEKIT – Cleanse for Severe Dry Eyes:

WIPE + DROP + DROP

Each step includes a product that targets a key contributor to severe dry eye symptoms. When combined, these 3 steps provide a comprehensive treatment routine that relieves symptoms and supports long-term eye health — allowing you to get on with your day-to-day life without constantly noticing your eyes.

These 3 steps are independent of each other and do not need to be performed in a specific order.

WIPE:

Blephadex Pro Cleanse Eyelid Wipes:
Blephadex Pro Cleanse Eyelid Wipes are designed to gently cleanse the eyelid margins and support daily eyelid hygiene in people with severe dry eyes, blepharitis and chronically irritated eyelids.

Formulated with Dead Sea Salt and Manuka Honey, these wipes help remove debris, excess oils and crusty build-up along the eyelid margins while supporting a clean, healthy eyelid environment.

The wipes can be used once daily, either in the morning or in the evening after showering or washing your face. Gently cleanse along the eyelid margin where the eyelashes grow using side-to-side strokes. Use one side of the wipe for one eye, then flip it over and use the other side for the other eye.

If you are using the Optimel Manuka Honey Dry Eye Gel at the same time as the Blephadex Pro Cleanse Wipes, cleanse the eyelid margins first before applying the gel.

DROP:

Optimel Manuka Honey Dry Eye Gel:
The Optimel Manuka Honey Dry Eye Gel helps control bacterial growth on the eyelids and ocular surface and is formulated for people with medium to severe dry eye symptoms.

Dispense a small amount of gel onto the tip of a cotton bud and gently apply along the inside of the lower eyelid. Repeat using the opposite end of the cotton bud for the other eye.

Apply the gel up to three times per day — in the morning, around lunchtime and before bed. Many people begin to notice improvement in dry eye symptoms within 4–5 weeks of consistent use.

DROP:

Hylo Forte Drops:
Hylo Forte is a preservative-free lubricating eye drop designed to provide intensive hydration throughout the day.

Apply one drop of Hylo Forte to each eye whenever your eyes feel dry. These drops can also be used during the night if dryness or discomfort occurs.

Because Hylo Forte does not contain preservatives, it can be used multiple times throughout the day without negative side effects.

Allow approximately 30 minutes after applying the Optimel Manuka Honey Dry Eye Gel before adding the Hylo Forte Drops.

What is the difference between the DRYEYEKIT- Cleanse and the DRYEYEKIT - Cleanse for Severe Dry Eyes?

There are two strengths of Optimel Manuka Honey Dry Eye products available. The Optimel Manuka Honey Dry Eye Drops have a lower concentration of Manuka Honey (165mg/g) and the Optimel Manuka Honey Dry Eye Gel has a higher concentration of Manuka Honey (980mg/g). 

The DRYEYEKIT - Cleanse includes the Optimel Manuka Honey Dry Eye Drops which are formulated for

• people suffering with mild to medium dry eye symptoms

• people who require treatment on the go through the day. The drops are more fluid and easy to apply as a drop straight from the bottle into the eye. These drops can be applied quickly and conveniently anywhere.

 The DRYEYEKIT - Cleanse for Severe Dry Eyes includes the Optimel Manuka Honey Dry Eye Gel which is formulated for

• people suffering with medium to severe dry eye symptoms

• people who are comfortable applying a more viscous gel into the eye. The gel can be applied directly or with a cotton tip along the inside of the lower eyelid. As the Optimel Gel is more viscous it feels thicker in the eye and takes a few minutes longer to dissolve into the tear film.

• people who are sensitive to preservatives. As the Optimel Manuka Honey Dry Eye Gel is almost pure honey it does not include any preservatives and hence is ideal for people who require preservative free products.

• The Optimel Manuka Honey Dry Eye Gel can be used to compliment the Optimel Drops - you may choose to use the drops in the morning and at lunch time and then apply the gel before bed to sleep in. However, people with severe dry eyes find using the gel 3 times per day provides the best results.

How does the DRYEYEKIT - Cleanse for Severe Dry Eyes help my Dry Eyes?

One of the most common causes of severe dry eyes is Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD). The Meibomian glands are located along the upper and lower eyelids and secrete oils that are essential for maintaining a stable tear film and reducing tear evaporation.

When these glands become blocked or inflamed — often due to bacterial overgrowth — tear quality deteriorates, resulting in symptoms such as burning, redness, grittiness and blurred vision.

The Optimel Manuka Honey Dry Eye Gel acts as a natural antibacterial agent, helping to prevent bacteria from colonising the Meibomian glands and ocular surface. This improves tear film stability, reduces inflammation and supports a healthier, more comfortable eye surface.

Blepharitis occurs when the Meibomian glands become inflamed and are unable to produce sufficient quality oils for healthy tears. This can cause red, irritated eyelids and crusty debris along the eyelashes.

The Blephadex Pro Cleanse Eyelid Wipes enable gentle cleansing and massage of the eyelid margins. Dead Sea Salt helps cleanse and support the delicate eyelid skin barrier, while Manuka Honey helps reduce bacterial build-up and calm inflammation, encouraging healthier oil flow into the tear film.

MGD is one cause of dry eye syndrome, however tear production and composition can also be affected by ageing, hormonal changes, menopause, medical conditions, medications, prolonged screen use, air conditioning, dusty environments and contact lens wear.

When the eyes are not consistently protected by a healthy tear film, symptoms worsen and the eye surface becomes more vulnerable to inflammation, infection and long-term damage.

Using Hylo Forte Drops throughout the day helps keep the eyes moist and protected. With a high concentration of hyaluronic acid (0.2%), Hylo Forte forms an intense moisture layer over the eye surface, reducing friction between the eyelid and eye and limiting irritation and damage.
