One of the unique features of the DRYEYEKIT – Cleanse is its focus on natural, clinically supported ingredients, drawing on the benefits of Manuka Honey, Dead Sea Salt and Hyaluronic Acid. These ingredients are selected for their antibacterial, soothing and moisture-retaining properties.
The aim of our Optometrists in designing this kit was to provide an effective dry eye routine while minimising exposure to preservatives commonly found in many over-the-counter eye drops, which can sometimes worsen dry eye symptoms over time.
The DRYEYEKIT – Cleanse comes packaged in a handy waterproof zip bag, making it easy to store in the bathroom or take with you when travelling.
What is included in the DRYEYEKIT - Cleanse and how do I use it?
There are three steps in the DRYEYEKIT – Cleanse: WIPE + DROP + DROP
Each step includes a product that targets a key contributor to Dry Eye Syndrome. When combined, these 3 steps provide a comprehensive daily routine that relieves symptoms and supports long-term eye comfort — so you can get on with your day without constantly thinking about your eyes.
These steps are independent of each other and do not need to be performed in a specific order.
WIPE:
Blephadex Pro Cleanse Eyelid Wipes: are designed to gently cleanse the eyelid margins and support daily eyelid hygiene in people with Dry Eye Syndrome, Blepharitis and irritated eyelids.
Formulated with Dead Sea Salt and Manuka Honey, these wipes help remove debris, excess oils and crusty build-up along the eyelid margins while supporting a clean, healthy eyelid environment.
The wipes can be used once daily — either in the morning or in the evening after showering or washing your face. With clean hands, gently cleanse along the eyelid margins where the eyelashes grow, using side-to-side strokes. Use one side of the wipe for one eye, then flip it over to use the other side for the other eye.
If you are using the Optimel Manuka Honey Dry Eye Drops at the same time, use the Blephadex Pro Cleanse Eyelid Wipe first, followed by the Optimel Drops.
DROP:
Optimel Manuka Honey Dry Eye Drops: help control bacterial growth on the eyelids and ocular surface.
Apply the Optimel Drops into each eye three times per day — morning, around lunchtime and before bed. Depending on your routine, the drops can be used when you wake up or after washing your face.
If used together with the Blephadex Pro Cleanse Eyelid Wipes, always cleanse the eyelid margins first, then apply the Optimel Drops afterwards.
DROP:
Hylo Forte Drops: a preservative-free lubricant eye drop designed to provide long-lasting hydration throughout the day.
Apply one drop of Hylo Forte to each eye whenever your eyes feel dry. These drops can also be used during the night if dryness or discomfort occurs.
Because Hylo Forte is preservative free, it can be used multiple times throughout the day without negative side effects.
Allow approximately 30 minutes after applying the Optimel Manuka Honey Dry Eye Drops before adding the Hylo Forte Drops.
What is the difference between the DRYEYEKIT - Cleanse and the DRYEYEKIT - Cleanse for Severe Dry Eyes?
There are two strengths of Optimel Manuka Honey Dry Eye products available. The Optimel Manuka Honey Dry Eye Drops have a lower concentration of Manuka Honey (165mg/g) and the Optimel Manuka Honey Dry Eye Gel has a higher concentration of Manuka Honey (980mg/g).

people who are comfortable applying a more viscous gel into the eye. The gel can be applied directly or with a cotton tip along the inside of the lower eyelid. As the Optimel Gel is more viscous it feels thicker in the eye and takes a few minutes longer to dissolve into the tear film.

people who are sensitive to preservatives. As the Optimel Manuka Honey Dry Eye Gel is almost pure honey it does not include any preservatives and hence is ideal for people who require preservative free products.

The Optimel Manuka Honey Dry Eye Gel can be used to compliment the Optimel Drops - you may choose to use the drops in the morning and at lunch time and then apply the gel before bed to sleep in. However, people with severe dry eyes find using the gel 3 times per day provides the best results

How does the DRYEYEKIT - Cleanse help my dry eyes?
One of the most common causes of Dry Eye Syndrome is Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD). The Meibomian glands are located along the upper and lower eyelids and secrete oils that are essential for maintaining a stable tear film and preventing tear evaporation.
When these glands become blocked or inflamed — often due to bacterial build-up — tear quality is reduced, leading to symptoms such as burning, redness, grittiness and blurred vision.
The Blephadex Pro Cleanse Eyelid Wipes support gentle cleansing and massage of the eyelid margins. Dead Sea Salt helps cleanse and support the delicate eyelid skin barrier, while Manuka Honey helps reduce bacterial load and soothe inflammation. This encourages healthier oil flow into the tear film and improved eye comfort.
The Optimel Manuka Honey Dry Eye Drops act as a natural antibacterial agent on the ocular surface, helping to prevent bacterial colonisation of the eyelids and Meibomian glands. This improves tear film stability, reduces inflammation and supports healthier, more comfortable eyes.
Dry eye symptoms can also occur due to reduced tear production or changes in tear composition associated with ageing, hormonal changes, menopause, medical conditions, medications and environmental factors such as air conditioning, prolonged screen use, dusty environments and contact lens wear.
Using Hylo Forte Drops throughout the day helps maintain consistent moisture on the eye surface. With a high concentration of hyaluronic acid (0.2%), Hylo Forte forms a protective moisture layer that reduces friction between the eyelid and eye surface and helps protect against irritation and damage.
